HH&S SPool Offload
HSPO is a batch utility that processes raw SPOOL OFFLOAD files from MVS/JES2 and separates them into homogeneous logical streams, either text lines or pure AFP, for processing by an ACIF print subsystem.
HSPO runs on Open Systems equipped for Advanced Function Presentation (AFP):
Linux
Windows
AIX
It processes raw JES2 Spool Offload data delivered through conventional media:
- non-SNA networks, including the Internet
- magnetic media
- CD-ROM
- other file-transfer media
HSPO therefore enables Mainframe print workloads to be moved to PC and UNIX platforms, including:
- office services operating independently from the Mainframe
- remote branches
- outsourced production sites and print-service providers
Benefits for IBM Mainframe sites
- raw Spool Offload data can be sent directly to print-service providers, reducing CPU and operational costs.
Benefits for print-service providers
- native MVS Spool Offload data can be accepted from Mainframe clients without requiring a Mainframe.
